At the end of the 90s, after 25 years of predominantly organic growth and following the company’s reorganization, anticipated in Dr. Romano Volta’s strategic plan, Datalogic started evaluating possible acquisitions of other companies. The first of these was IDWare Mobile Computing & Communication, one of the leaders in the Mobile Computers sector in Europe. As a result of this acquisition, Datalogic's range of "portable terminals" was now enriched and complemented by new, compact, high-performance products, which paved the way for the future self-shopping systems offering.
